The job of the worship leader

The job of worship leaders:

That being the job of those who lead us in songs or in studying of God’s Word together thus that is also worshipping God, thus it is worship as well. Singing is but one of the manifestations of our worship unto God.

Now people too often when brooding about what and what should be worship get it all wrong and almost all of the time as well. As well as when they try to comprehend what the duties of a worship leader is supposed to be. Here they are:

1. A worship leaders life is to be a reflection and an example of the true Christian walk.

2. A worship leader is to be one of whom fickleness is absent. What I mean by fickleness is that the worship leader keeps a constant atmosphere of promotion of reverence and humility, and atmosphere that encourages those around them to want to worship God. Who’s life truly makes one and many around them see how being a Christian is such a good and wonderful affair.

3. The worships leader will defend worship against those who would try to limit, squeeze, and thereby try and limit corporate worship into a man made show where there are three fast songs and two slow songs. The worship leader will defend worship against the trivial and fruitless limitations of man. Such as having worship down to an exact time. Worship should be orderly but not order to be misinterpreted.

4. Worship leaders are to reverence worship itself. Meaning that worship leaders should seek forever for worship to be authentic. Not just that they sung a bunch of songs. There is supposed to be order to worship. That means that the mood of the worship service should not be a fickle one, going from happy to sad and much more.

5. Worship leaders, it is their responsibility to create an atmosphere of celebration when the people have assembled. To praise and honor what God has done. There is to be praise anthems, songs, and the like.

6. The worship leader is to always choose songs that point back to God and not to our little stories. Songs that are not about us and are COMPLETELY about God.

7. The worship leader is not to force, manipulate, or tell people what to do or to do this. There is to be freedom in the house of God.

What I have just stated above is a basic outline of what a worship leader is to exercise regularly. Not all of these statements above are always exercised but their hearts are still genuine. But the basic themes are still supposed to be manifest within the worship leaders life: Humility, reverence, thankfulness.
